Kirkland

Students are back at school and the air is getting a bit more frigid than we are used to… thanks to our hot July and comfortable August! There are still plenty of things going on around the neighborhood. The Kirkland- Seattle area thrives during these next few months. Flannels, boots, and sweaters can finally start to be brought out from the back of your closet and will be here to stay! Yay! Here are some events to attend in order to serve your PNW looks.

Paint your Pet September 9th: Northwest Cellars is hosting Paint your Pet night. The event is this Sunday and is from 1-3 pm. Uncork a bottle of wine with your friends and break out your inner artist. Pets are obviously encouraged for this event and the wine will be flowing!

Bouquet and Brunch September 15th: The Heathman Hotel in Downtown Kirkland is putting on this awesome event from 10 am- noon. With your ticket you will learn how to arrange your florals, sip on mimosas and get sent home with some goodies as well. (“Goodies”,  include dining credit to “Trellis” and you will be sent home with a beautiful Glassybaby votive)!!

Kirkland Artwalk September 14th : On the second Friday of every month, enjoy this display located on Park Lane. The artwalk runs from 5- 8 pm and features plenty of outstanding local artists displaying their artwork for all to enjoy. There are over 40 artists featured in these artwalks.

Kirkland Oktoberfest September 21st to 23rd: With one ticket, you get 3 days of beer-guzzling fun! The festival is located at Marina Park Pavillion. The festival has proclaimed that they celebrate the festival in an authentic manner, and because of this, they do not do “tastings or mini-mugs.” What you can expect is a 16 oz mug of beer for every 2 tickets you present. The festival asks that for the first 2 days you leave your pets at home- but with these restrictions they give you the free pass of getting your dog into the festival on Sunday the 23rd! There will be a wiener dog race and parade for all ages as well! Even dogs that wish they were wiener dogs can join in on the fun!shutterstock_1031156875

Fremont Oktoberfest September 21st to 23rd:  If you decide you want to split your Oktoberfest time between Kirkland and Seattle, Fremont is the place to do it. Fremont Oktoberfest is Seattle’s largest beer festival AND this celebration for Oktoberfest is said to be ranked within the top 10 places worldwide to celebrate! There will be live music, activities and plenty of beer! Like Kirkland’s Oktoberfest, dogs will be encouraged to be brought along on Sunday the 23rd. Bring your dog. Bring a friend’s dog. Borrow your ex’s dog. Get a dog… or just enjoy the company of other people’s dogs!

Kirkland Wednesday Market: Make sure you stop by this local market throughout the last month of its season! Stock up on your favorite local produce and knick-knacks. The market goes from 2-7 pm so there is plenty of time to find a window of time to go visit the market. The local vendors love meeting fellow Kirklandian people or seeing some familiar faces pop in. Make sure you stop by before the tents are put away for the winter!

November 3rd Lake Washington Half Marathon and 5k: If you are interested in this half- marathon or 5k, mark your calendar and register! The half marathon starts at 8 am and will give you the rest of the day to relax and recover! Think of how much extra Thanksgiving feast you could put down later on in the month thanks to a half marathon!

Kirkland is poppin’ as fall begins to roll in. There is plenty of fun to be had all around town!  Throw on your favorite sweater and boots and get out to these great community events in ~style~ and take in the last few rays of sunshine that you can before it is gone!
