Summer is in full swing here in Kirkland! Kirkland Uncorked and the big 4th of July Celebration are behind us, though the summer events keep chugging along. August is filled with plenty of more things and activities to get involved with following our action-packed July. Here are just a few lively events to keep you busy.
Seafair August 3rd-5th: This is one of the biggest events around the Seattle/ Kirkland area during the summer time thanks to the huge crowds it attracts. Whether on land or sea, it is a blast to be a part of. There are plenty of different sights to check out throughout the weekend, including the Boeing Airshow which includes (the crowd favorite): The Blue Angels. There will also be Hydroplane races, wake-boarding, stunt bikes and more. It is quite the event and there is really nothing that compares to the energy and amount of community that shines through during this weekend. Be sure to check out the fun and keep an eye on the sky and the water for the brilliant shows.
Exotics at Redmond Town Center: Saturdays at Redmond Town Center are for all of the car junkies out there. Each weekend the largest weekly car gathering North of Los Angeles is held in Redmond Town Center and it really is quite spectacular. People come from all around to get together and share their common love for cars. It is a free event and is entirely for the pleasure of those who attend. Additionally, the Redmond Market goes on at the same time, so it is easy to make it a fun morning outing!
Kirkland Wednesday Market: Located at Marina Park from 2-7pm, the Wednesday Market is a summer staple of the Kirkland community. Vendors sell top notch produce and items including: Kombucha, honey, donuts, handmade jewelry and so much more! It is a city favorite and keeps the afternoon life around Kirkland thriving. Located on the water front, it also makes for some epic views of the low hanging sun.
Be Kind to Everyone Day: Kirkland has specially set aside August 28th as a day to practice kindness to anyone and everyone. This cute idea is a way to bring people’s focus back to having a neighborly attitude to those around them throughout the community. It is such an adorable thought and hopefully it will turn into an annual tradition in Kirkland.
Concerts at Marymoor: Keep an eye out for these awesome upcoming shows. Marymoor Park is a great outdoor venue for these summer concerts and has such a fun, welcoming, and energetic atmosphere. Upcoming performances include Willie Nelson, Sublime, as well as Summer Camp- which is a great 2 day music festival featuring various artists and is hosted by 107.7 The End radio station.
This is a great time of year around the Northwest. Make the most of whats left this summer and get up, get out, and get moving!
