Kickoff summer in Kirkland the right way with these fun upcoming events and activities! Weekdays are packed with recurring activities throughout the upcoming months. There are plenty of things to do to keep you and your whole family busy the whole summer!
4th of July: The fourth of July in Kirkland is a very big celebration; the whole community comes together to enjoy the day. The morning kicks off at Marina Park with fun decorating and activities for all ages. At 11:30am, the Children’s parade starts and runs right through the heart of Kirkland and the Hometown Heroes parade follows right behind! Continuing the fun, there is a picnic and gathering in the park for all to join lasting until 10:30pm, (don’t forget about the Wednesday market)! During this, there will be live music and then it will be proceeded by the Kirkland Fireworks Show at 10:15pm. It really is a cool experience to see the entire community come together to celebrate this special day.
Saturday July 14th: The 14th is the second Saturday of the month which means… The Second Saturday Contra Dance! Go with a partner, a group of friends, or go stag! All are welcome to join. Beginners are encouraged to come along and are provided basic instruction beginning at 7:30pm. The dance begins at 8pm with live folk music and a dance-caller. July 13th- 15th: Drink with a purpose! Join the community in celebrating Kirkland Uncorked! The city puts on a community festival for free in addition to the big wine tasting event. Get your ticket for $25 to spend your time in a fun social atmosphere. No worries if you are the designated driver! Designated drivers, and those not drinking have a special discount of $10 which includes tickets for non-alcoholic beverages. Tuesdays: Get your kids rocking and rolling this summer at Kirkland’s Kid’s Concerts every Tuesday starting July 10th, continuing up until August 22nd. These concerts are a great way to start the day with the kids. Performers include Recess Monkey, Captain Awesome Sauce and Mister G (just to name a few). Wednesdays: Stop by the Kirkland Wednesday Market! The market is open every Wednesday from 2-7pm at Marina Park. Pick up an array of locally produced foods alongside arts and crafts. The market runs every Wednesday of summer until September 27, 2018. This summer there will be a different theme each Wednesday at the market including the “Iron Chef Cook Off” from local foodies and restaurants. There’s no better way to spend the evening than picking up some wood fired pizza and fresh berries to munch on while watching the sunset. Find out more at http://www.kirklandmarket.org.
Thursdays: Each week, Kirkland puts on a concert. These concerts continue every Thursday from 7- 8:30pm until August 17th at Marina Park. For those who are free spirits, don’t miss out on the July 26th concert that gets the title “Rear View Mirror 60’s and 70’s”. These concerts have a very enjoyable atmosphere that still is able to get you in bed by a reasonable hour!
Fridays: Friday Family Fun Night! July 6th, 20th and August 10th, families are invited to the Peter Kirk Pool to engage in fun games, crafts and music during a themed public swim. The event lasts from 5:30- 8:30pm and is fun for all ages. http://www.kirklandparks.net/.
